You become what you believe in your business

This sounds a bit woo woo and unbusiness like but it is true.  Other people read your body language and respond to how you feel plus if you allow yourself to feel overwhelmed and blocked you don’t see the opportunities that are around you, often unseen.

Yesterday I dropped in to see some friends who own a business on the other side of town.  I hadn’t seen them for a while and I was shocked and sad.  Sales in their industry are slow but they have let this get to them.  They looked depressed, the office looked untidy and that is bound to affect potential new clients coming in depressing sales even further.

I spend a few minutes at the end of each day reflecting on what I did and planning the next day.  I have a rule that I must write down 6 things I did that were successful and 6 things I am grateful for every day.  It may sound odd but it works to keep me in a positive frame of mind all the time except when I miss doing it.

Being active and tidying up would help my friends no end because when you are in motion, your mood lifts.  The problem is that when you slow down the fear sets in so stop and think about what is working for you and plan to keep moving.

Sometimes having someone to help you take the next step is great.  When you are overwhelmed you can’t see past the problems and decide what step to take next.

An American friend of mine, Melanie Benson Strick, explains this wonderfully in the following video where she went wall climbing with a group of other business people.  She was way out of her comfort zone and found when she got stuck with her nose against the wall, she had difficulty seeing where to put her feet next and suggestions from friends were a great help.

My friends have got stuck with their nose against the wall and I wonder how many other businesses have also.  Doing your successes and gratitude’s every day is a big help and I can also help you to see further than your nose and develop a strategy to get your momentum going again

Here is a reminder of the quote I gave you two weeks ago “Successful people are made in good times and in bad times, so don’t ever forget, the “times” have nothing to do with it, it’s all about your own Mindset.”

If you are getting stuck and can’t see where to go next, consider booking in for a Blueprint consultation with me.  For only $199 inc GST, you download a questionnaire so that I understand your business and then we talk – one-one one with me, Jean Cannon, so that I can help you.

My kindest regards

Jean

Warnings in the Clouds

I was talking to one of my suppliers this week and hearing his tale of woe.

He made the decision to buy the latest software as cloud versions and hold his data in the cloud also.  Yes he thought it through and made sure he had good backups etc etc.

Then he moved to new premises where the phones and internet are organised through the landlord and “guaranteed” to work effectively including cable internet which was an upgrade for my supplier.

How much will excessive marine reserves harm our economy?

A proposal to create the world’s largest marine reserve in the Coral Sea is being disputed as scientists warn there is no sound rationale for the move and fishermen fear they will lose their livelihoods.

Friends of the Earth take aim at Nimbys and Government

Environment group Friends of the Earth has taken aim at the New South Wales Government over planned stricter rules for wind farms.

Under the changes companies planning to erect turbines must notify all people living within two kilometres and residents will then be entitled to veto installations, though there will be an appeals process for companies.

Are Contractors at More Risk of Workplace Injury and Death?

Currently in South Australia alone, there is approximately one safety conviction each week.

According to a new safety research report by Siemens – Picture the Future 2030 Safety – workplace accidents account for around 280 deaths per year in Australia.  That is one death every second day!

More About Cloud Computing

I discussed this last week but here is some more information

The Weekend Australian for 21-22 January 2012 published an interesting article promoting the services of a business offering recruitment and human resources services in the cloud.  HMM – do I want sensitive information about me stored “in the cloud”?
